Job Summary

Blue Ridge Power is a leading provider of engineering, procurement, and construction services for solar projects across the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project commissioning plans, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Lead the interface between project sites and the Commissioning team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of utility PV systems, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Prepare and document commissioning meeting minutes, uploading them to construction management software.
  • Proactively review site-specific commissioning trackers to ensure all pre-energization activities are covered.
  • Coordinate craft and equipment support for commissioning activities, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Participate in safety programs and discussions, verifying all applicable equipment is LOTO'd before energization.
  • Review and track test report submittals, ensuring all required submittals are closed before energization.
  • Conduct audits of project commissioning documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist the team in training project personnel to perform field verification during the commissioning process.
  • Ensure commissioning and documentation are completed per contract requirements.
  • Communicate and implement Blue Ridge Power's Commissioning Procedures for all personnel under Blue Ridge Power's authority on the project site.
Requirements
  • 2-3+ years of commissioning experience in the utility-scale solar industry.
  • A clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures.
  • Advanced Racking and Tracker commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
  • Advanced Inverter commissioning, operation, communications, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
  • Advanced DAS systems, communication systems, operations, programming, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
  • Good knowledge of MV Transformers and other Renewable Energy Balance of System (BOS) Advanced Construction, structural, and electrical single-line and three-line drawings, markups, redlines, and RFIs.
  • Good knowledge of Utility and Interconnection (Substation and POI) Equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Transmission scale solar experience.
  • Experience working with solar tracker systems.
  • Subcontractor and vendor management.
Education and Certifications
  • Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field of study.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license.
  • NABCEP Certification or equivalent education.
  • OSHA 30 or 100.
  • An electrical license and/or equivalent education.
  • High Voltage Certification.
  • Low Voltage Certification.
  • NABCEP PV Associate Certification.
  • NFPA 70e.
  • OSHA 30.
Working Environment and Physical Demand
  • 70-80% travel to assigned project(s); field and on-site office-based work.
  • Must have the ability to travel and be flexible when traveling to multiple states.
  • Must possess reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to comply with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA requirements.
  • Must follow organization policies and procedures.
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must be able to tolerate all climates.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
