Job Summary

Tennessee Tech University is seeking a highly qualified Research Assistant Professor to join our faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong background in power engineering and a specialization in distribution grid modernization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a robust externally funded research program focused on distribution grid modernization, including modeling, design, planning, and operations.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including publishing research papers and presenting at conferences.
  • Participate in professional service, including serving on departmental and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with a specialization in power engineering.
  • Research emphasis on distribution grid modernization, including modeling and design, planning and operations, and microgrids.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong publication record in the area of distribution grid modernization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research experience in developing multidomain cosimulation frameworks utilizing real-time simulators, particularly Typhoon HIL.
  • Experience in networked microgrids for active distribution system flexibility and resiliency.
  • Proven interdisciplinary research experience on state/federally funded projects.
  • Experience in proposal writing.
