Role Summary

The Event Service Supervisor is tasked with:
  • Overseeing banquet service operations to ensure customer satisfaction, high-quality service, and adherence to corporate policies while achieving financial objectives.
  • Assisting in both long-term and short-term planning as well as daily operations of the banquet department.
  • Proposing changes to policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Implementing and monitoring the department's budget while managing expenses within approved limits.
Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Event Service Supervisor include:
  • Reviewing Banquet Event Orders and effectively communicating with clients, management, and staff to ensure all arrangements, equipment, supplies, staffing, and menus meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Monitoring and managing the banquet budget, including labor, beverage, and supply costs, to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while delivering excellent guest service.
  • Recruiting staff and conducting orientation to ensure all responsibilities are adequately covered according to company standards and budgetary constraints.
  • Assigning tasks to team members and inspecting their work to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Preparing departmental schedules and submitting them for senior management approval.
  • Conducting inventory checks to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
  • Addressing guest complaints and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Generating reports related to occupancy, payroll, and departmental expenses.
  • Documenting work assignments and special projects, and preparing periodic updates.
  • Welcoming and engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner to create memorable experiences.
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all relevant procedures and techniques as established by hotel standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient satisfaction of all guest requests.
  • Providing service in a consistently professional manner.
  • Conducting daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Completing safety training in compliance with company policies.
  • Reviewing internal management reports, including occupancy forecasts and payroll edits.
  • Generating purchase orders for departmental needs and submitting them for approval.
  • Participating in the development of the annual operating budget for the department.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards set by third-party affiliations.
  • Conducting month-end inventories accurately and on time.
  • Ensuring all department employees receive thorough training as outlined in the business plan.
  • Enforcing compliance with uniform and grooming standards among staff.
  • Reporting unsafe work conditions and safety violations in accordance with company policy.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participating in special projects and committees as requested.
  • Attending weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to make decisions guided by established policies and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with scheduling, purchase order processing, time card calculations, and expense control systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Delphi systems or optimal settings is advantageous.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Education: One to two years of post-secondary education.
  • Experience: Two to three years in a related role.
  • Prior experience as a Banquet Captain at a property level is preferred.
