Your Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Technical Lead to join our team.

As an Accounting Technical Lead, you will be responsible for all accounting functions, including analyzing, monitoring, problem-solving, preparing and reconciling financial information to reflect the condition of the organization and provide financial and other statistical data to control operations.

You will also be responsible for preparing GAAP financial reports, developing processes with a high degree of autonomy to meet internal and external reporting requirements, and acting as a professional technical leader with a high degree of expertise in various government accounting principles.

You will assist in providing support for internal and external audits, utilizing analytical skills to interpret, audit and investigate transactions for appropriate accounting and reporting.

In addition, you will collaborate with leaders across the organization as a technical knowledge resource and driver of new GASB accounting standard implementation, and provide advice and assistance to UCI Health, UCI Campus and UCOP Leadership.

You will also be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring accounting systems, policies and procedures, and preparing journal entries and other accounting records.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a thorough understanding of government generally accepted accounting principles (GASB), with emphasis on proprietary funds, and knowledge of statutory accounting principles.

You will also need to have the skill to interpret policies and/or financial standards and procedures that may be complex or incompletely stated, and the skill in analyzing complex accounting, financial, and/or technical data and systems.

You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access), and possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.

You will also need to demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job, and be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

Minimum four years of progressive experience in accounting is required, and you will need to maintain a current working knowledge of Federal, State, University and industry regulations and accounting standards.

You will also need to have knowledge of healthcare-related financial systems and/or related sub-systems, and high analytical proficiency, detail oriented, insightful, intuitive, persistent, makes people feel at ease, team player, adaptive, ethical, confident.

Extensive knowledge of financial statement and accounting report preparation is also required, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Demonstrated in-depth financial experience is also necessary, and you will need to be able to work without guidance, to prioritize a variety of critical responsibilities, to meet multiple conflicting deadlines and to produce quality results.

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of accounting education and experience is required, and an active CPA license is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of UCI's integrated financial systems and related sub-systems is preferred, as well as knowledge of UCI policies and procedures.

Experience in an academic medical center environment is also preferred.
