Job Summary

The Deputy Director, California State Summer School for the Arts, is a key leadership position responsible for providing policy and program development, budget and finance oversight, and administrative support to the agency. The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, policy, and administration, with experience in managing budgets, developing programs, and leading teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy and program initiatives to support the agency's mission and goals
  • Provide budget and finance oversight, including budget development, financial analysis, and procurement
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Board Members, arts organizations, school districts, and county offices of education
  • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education, Public Policy, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education, policy, or administration, with a strong background in budget and finance management
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful programs and policies
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with local and state education programs
  • Knowledge of budget and finance regulations and policies
  • Experience with procurement processes and financial databases
  • Ability to speak effectively before large and small groups
