Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director and Controller will oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger management, vendor relations, financial reporting, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all facets of accounting operations and general ledger oversight.
  • Act as the primary contact for external vendors regarding accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and best practices.
  • Supervise all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for related entities.
  • Lead month-end closing processes.
  • Facilitate expense allocations for closing preparations.
  • Contribute significantly to the annual audit and financial reporting.
  • Oversee revenue postings for departmental profit and loss reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Finance Coordinator
  • Senior Accountant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to train and manage team members.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical and Work Environment:

The role may require standing, walking, and sitting, along with the ability to use hands and fingers for various tasks. The work environment is typically low to moderate in noise level, with opportunities for both independent and collaborative work.

Work Schedule:

Standard business hours with flexibility for variable scheduling as necessary. Remote work options are available.
