Position Overview: Law Enforcement Officer

The City of Brenham is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Law Enforcement Officer. We are in search of committed individuals who have a strong desire to serve and safeguard the community.

Qualifications for Experienced Officers:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a law enforcement capacity
  • Must hold an Intermediate Peace Officer Certificate or a higher qualification from TCOLE

Newly Licensed Candidates: We encourage individuals currently pursuing their TCOLE certification to consider this opportunity.

Job Responsibilities: This position entails routine patrol operations, responding to emergency calls, enforcing traffic regulations, engaging with the public, making arrests, and compiling reports.

Key Duties Include:

  • Conducting patrols throughout the city and responding to service requests
  • Enforcing traffic laws and investigating incidents
  • Interacting with community members
  • Executing arrests and documenting incidents
  • Providing testimony in court as required
  • Securing crime scenes and carrying out investigations
  • Participating in ongoing training related to job responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with state laws, municipal regulations, and criminal statutes
  • Proficiency in operating police vehicles and equipment
  • Strong communication abilities

Licenses and Certifications: A basic certification from TCOLE and a valid Texas driver's license are mandatory.

Physical Requirements: Candidates should be capable of performing various physical tasks essential to the role.

Work Environment: The position requires working in high-pressure situations and emergency conditions. Officers must maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
