About This Role

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiology Technician to join our team. As a Cardiology Technician, you will play a critical role in the care and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care and clerical duties to assist medical providers in the care and treatment of patients with or evaluation of cardiovascular disease.
  • Conduct and assist with various routine and specialized technical procedures associated with cardiology testing, including EKG, Holter/Event monitors, Stress testing, and Simple Implantable Cardiac Device Interrogations.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with patients and their families, considering their needs and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with other cardiac technicians to create a team atmosphere and open communication.
  • Ensure patient safety by following quality and safety policies and procedures, including the use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs.
  • Review patients' medical records to obtain previous EKGs and determine the appropriate patient visit order.
  • Interview patients to determine the reason for their visit, take vital signs, and record information in their medical record.
  • Report patient findings and concerns to appropriate personnel, such as RNs, NPs, or MDs.
  • Perform electrocardiograph testing according to precise standards and record results following standard procedures.
  • Assist with performing treadmill stress testing and educate patients about echo, treadmill, nuclear stress tests, and pharmacological stress testing.
  • Apply Holter/Event monitors and educate patients on technical equipment and procedures.
  • Assist medical providers with routine and specialized examinations and procedures as approved by the Nursing Manager.
  • Perform basic, routine, and regular delegated medical functions as directed and within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare exam rooms for medical providers by monitoring supply inventory, cleaning, stocking, and arranging supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Responsible for maintaining Oxygen tanks and inventory.
  • Screen and route incoming telephone calls and take and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine clerical and reception duties as required to ensure efficient functioning of the department.
  • Order, store, and maintain adequate inventories of departmental supplies used for cardiac tests, exams, and procedures.
  • Work with peers to coordinate daily tasks and schedules.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills, customer focus abilities, and the ability to understand Kaiser Permanente customer needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and readily assist other staff members.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for patients, self, and others.
  • Work within the scope of practice and according to KP policies.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and standards of care.
  • Identify and inform manager of training needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Successful completion of an approved program in 12 Lead EKG testing and interpretation.
  • One (1) of the following: Passing grade in a Medical Assistant (MA) program with one (1) year experience of cardiac-related experience, Certified Cardiac Technician (CCT), Bachelors of Science degree in Medical or Health Sciences.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
