Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at Airgas. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, selling medical, industrial, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods and tools to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solicit sales from walk-in and telephone call-in customers, assisting customers with identifying product needs and locating merchandise.
  • Accurately complete and file all required paperwork on a timely basis, documenting sales, quotes, or other information.
  • Enter sales and quote data into the computer and research information for customers using the computer system.
  • Receive payment for merchandise or services sold and enter sale into the computer, adhering to all administrative and accounting-related procedures.
  • Wrap and bag purchases and help customers load merchandise into their vehicles.
  • Provide warehouse support for shipping and receiving, inventory stocking, cleaning, labeling, or other tasks.
  • Restock store merchandise as needed, arranging stock on shelves or racks in the sales area and keeping merchandise in order.
  • Follow all safety procedures, using established safety procedures for cylinder handling during exchanges and storage of cylinders.
  • Maintain showroom cleanliness by procedures set forth by management.
  • Maintain current price documentation and product literature as it becomes available, keeping product knowledge current.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous product, warehouse, and/or sales-related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry with retail experience preferred.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior welding experience preferred, including knowledge of MIG, TIG, and STICK WELDING.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite applications.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.
