About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Counter Sales Associate to join our team at Airgas. As a key member of our retail shop, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and selling medical, industrial, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods and tools to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Customer Service: Solicit sales from walk-in and telephone call-in customers, assisting them with identifying product needs and locating merchandise.
  • Administrative Tasks: Accurately complete and file all required paperwork on a timely basis, documenting sales, quotes, or other information.
  • Inventory Management: Enter sales and quote data into the computer, research information for customers using the computer system, and receive payment for merchandise or services sold.
  • Warehouse Support: Provide support for shipping and receiving, inventory stocking, cleaning, labeling, or other tasks as needed.
  • Store Maintenance: Restock store merchandise, arrange stock on shelves or racks in the sales area, and maintain showroom cleanliness.
  • Safety Procedures: Follow all safety procedures, including established safety procedures for cylinder handling during exchanges and storage of cylinders.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of previous product, warehouse, and/or sales-related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Skills: Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry with retail experience preferred; SAP experience strongly preferred; prior welding experience preferred; prior experience operating a forklift preferred; intermediate knowledge of Google Suite applications.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent customer service skills, ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines, and a clear and effective speaking manner for explaining information to customers and employees.
