Electromagnetic Systems Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group at General Atomics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing new or revised production processes for the efficient and economical fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Conduct tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as Oscilloscopes and Digital Multimeters.
  • Provide support to Electrical Engineering Staff.
  • Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues, faults, and equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, schematics, PCB Layout, mechanical blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Design the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery.
  • Collaborate with product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions and communicate results to staff.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's in engineering or a related technical field as well as two or more years of manufacturing engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • IPC solder certifications IPC 610 and IPC 620.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain secret level clearance is desired.

  • Schematic capture such as Altium, Cadence X Capture.
  • PCB Layout tools such as Cadence Allegro.
  • Microsoft office suite.
