Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA) is seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our oncology care team, you will serve as the patient's medical liaison, navigating them through the healthcare system and ensuring seamless communication between our practice, hospitals, support services, and payors.
Key Responsibilities- Contact patients prior to their first appointment to obtain essential chart information, including diagnosis, referring physician, personal data, insurance, and more.
- Coordinate physician referrals, schedule oncology-related medical appointments, and resolve insurance billing and coding issues.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, assess financial requirements, and educate patients on insurance benefits and co-payments.
- Obtain pre-authorization of services, maintain accurate patient demographics, and assist patients with obtaining financial resources.
- Provide educational materials to patients and families, update, order, and maintain patient education materials, and refer patients to agencies and services as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- At least two years of directly related experience in medical coding, billing, patient advocacy, or social services.
- Strong verbal communication skills, proficiency in computer systems, medical billing systems, and Microsoft Office Outlook & Word.
- Ability to articulate information and questions clearly and utilize correct terminology.
