Under the guidance of the Senior Program Director, the Youth Program Coordinator will oversee various initiatives related to School Age Child Care (SACC), Summer Camp, Arts & Humanities, and Teen Programs at the Somerset Hills YMCA. This role is entirely on-site and focuses on ensuring that these programs foster youth development, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage social responsibility.

School Age Child Care (SACC)
  • Supervise SACC staff and assist in the daily operations of the program, including regular site visits and shift coverage as necessary.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of program staff.
  • Lead the SACC program with a structured agenda aimed at achieving program objectives.
  • Manage participant registrations and oversee the monthly payment schedule, addressing outstanding balances promptly.
  • Oversee CCCS enrollments and monitor parent usage on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate the daily schedule and communicate any modifications effectively.
  • Procure snacks in accordance with nutritional and budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and educational programming in a nurturing environment, emphasizing the YMCA's Core Values.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with program participants, their families, and potential members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and educational standards set by the YMCA and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to the development of new programs and innovative ideas to enhance program growth.
Summer Camp
  • Serve as an Assistant Camp Director, aiding in the planning and execution of camp activities for designated groups.
  • Supervise camp counselors and support them in daily camp operations.
  • Act as a leader in utilizing camp management software, interfacing with the parent portal and generating reports.
  • Organize weekly special events and camp activities, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of camp staff prior to and during the camp season.
  • Assist staff in preparing lesson plans tailored to their groups.
  • Collaborate with staff to enhance their leadership skills.
  • Familiarize campers with camp rules, activities, schedules, and traditions.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all equipment and supplies.
Arts & Humanities
  • Develop innovative programs that respond to community and member needs.
  • Supervise Arts & Humanities instructors and manage daily program operations.
Teen Programming
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Teen Center, creating and implementing engaging programming and events for teens.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight for Adventure Guides, Family Nights, and Girl Scout Patch Programs, including trip bookings and supply purchases.
  • Maintain daily attendance records and ensure staff conduct head counts during activities.
  • Document and report all incidents accurately, notifying parents as necessary.
  • Assist with organization-wide events beyond direct programming responsibilities.
  • Respond to family inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support fundraising efforts by meeting campaign goals and organizing volunteer initiatives.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Greater Somerset County YMCA.
  • Embody and promote the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, while educating members about the organization's mission.
  • Contribute to program promotion through the development of informational materials for the YMCA website and other platforms.
  • Engage in training, seminars, special events, and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of experience in directing youth programming, particularly in School Age Child Care and Summer Camp settings.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and engage with members.
  • Prior supervisory experience is essential.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, including availability for evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent organizational, member engagement, staff development, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with solid administrative capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field is required.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment, and other relevant training courses.
