POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Merchandising Manager spearheads the merchandising and procurement operations for one of the most significant segments within their Brand/Division. This role is pivotal in strategizing and executing objectives aimed at fulfilling sales targets, enhancing markup, managing return rates, and driving profitability (EBIDTA). The Senior Merchandising Manager oversees a team of Merchants and collaborates closely with the Inventory Planning team to ensure efficient fulfillment, partners with Creative Services for catalog/web design, works with Sourcing to meet pricing objectives and quality standards, engages with Marketing to assess and respond to customer demands, and collaborates with E-Commerce to optimize online performance indicators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver comprehensive trend insights each season for the designated area, including a summary of research analysis and identification of key items.
  • Evaluate key performance metrics against plans. Identify root causes for successes or shortcomings and formulate action plans to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Craft strategies, product assortments, and pricing frameworks in assigned categories through analysis of historical performance, market trends, and competitor offerings, determining seasonal assortments.
  • Develop seasonal strategies for presentations across various lifestyles, both online and offline.
  • Engage daily with Creative, E-Commerce, Inventory/Planning, Global Sourcing, Domestic Vendors, and Technical Design teams to align merchandising goals and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee vendor relationships or collaborate with Global Sourcing to innovate new products in line with brand positioning, source materials, negotiate costs to achieve margin goals, ensure adherence to quality standards, and leverage our fabric/materials base to enhance service levels.
  • Provide technical and managerial guidance to recruit, integrate, and develop team members, ensuring alignment of goals and activities with both individual and organizational expectations.
  • Collaborate with team leaders to mentor and share knowledge with the merchandising team to support their professional growth.
  • Represent the merchandising team on special committees and/or cross-functional initiatives or projects as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree; a Master's or MBA is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 7-8 years of experience in merchandising and product development.
  • Proficiency in product development, trend analysis, and branding.
  • Experience in apparel (Catalog and/or web) is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities are required.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is mandatory.
