POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Merchandising Manager orchestrates the merchandising and procurement processes for a significant segment within their Brand/Division. This role is pivotal in strategizing and executing objectives aimed at achieving sales targets, markup, return rates, and profitability (EBITDA). The Senior Merchandising Manager supervises a team of Merchants and collaborates closely with the Inventory Planning team to ensure effective fulfillment, Creative Services for catalog/web aesthetics, Sourcing to meet pricing objectives and quality standards, Marketing to assess and cater to customer preferences, and E-Commerce to enhance online performance metrics. Additionally, this position engages in corporate initiatives and liaises with senior leadership.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the product assortment and design strategy, ensuring the delivery of an engaging selection that meets or surpasses financial objectives.
- Manage all facets of seasonal assortment planning from initial selection through to post-season evaluation.
- Formulate both short- and long-term strategies that foster growth in the existing business.
- Oversee the identification, development, and execution of innovative business strategies, initiatives, and product lines.
- Work in tandem with Inventory Planning to create plans that leverage current assets while supporting strategic growth and innovation.
- Address and resolve catalog and web-related issues, coordinating communication strategies with customer service.
- Collaborate with planners to manage markdowns, promotions, cost adjustments, and retail changes.
- Conduct market analysis (domestic) and provide insights to the Buyer for comprehensive market evaluations.
- Supply SKU information to Merchandising Operations for data input.
- Review and approve catalog proofs for each catalog (pricing, naming, copy).
- Possess a deep understanding of the brand's customer base and aesthetic.
- Demonstrate strong technical expertise along with business and financial acumen.
- Achieve results by effectively influencing both internal and external stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in women's apparel merchandising.
- 5+ years of experience in managing high-performing teams.
- Proven history of driving profitable business growth.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in product development and global sourcing.
- Ability to train, develop, and lead teams effectively.
- Expertise in product development, trend analysis, and branding.
- Strong analytical skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
