Job Summary

Develops and implements global process safety management programs, procedures, and practices to ensure the health, safety, and compliance of site personnel, neighboring communities, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements global process safety management programs, procedures, and practices.
  • Critically reviews process safety risks and ensures adequate layers of protection, risk controls, and effective mitigation are in place.
  • Tracks and responds to regulatory trends and initiatives related to process safety globally.
  • Identifies, communicates, and escalates process safety-related risks internally.
  • Ensures PSM-related training is provided for personnel.
  • Directs the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Process Safety Management program.
  • Selects, hires, and effectively manages direct report resources.
  • Develops and manages budgeted spend related to process safety.
  • Serves as Technical Expert for Process Safety, Hazard Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis, Facility Siting, Incident Investigation, and PSM Tools.
Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience in Process Safety Management.
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical/refining/pharma/nuclear or similar industry.
  • PHA Trained Team Leader, PSM Auditor, LOPA.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Professional Engineering License, MS degree.
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Multi-site support, International experience.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates creative problem-solving approaches to risk reduction.
  • Actively participates in global, cross-functional project teams.
  • Develops and delivers quality training programs.
  • Communicates effectively and constructively in delicate risk discussions.
  • Interacts effectively with leadership, customers (both internal and external), team members, and members of support groups (Engineering).
  • Manages multiple projects or assignments effectively.
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making skills based on personal experience and knowledge, available data, and input from others as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates leadership in teams working to accomplish team goals.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills both written and oral and interpersonal skills such that cross-functional and technical interface is effective.
