Commodity Manager Electronics Job Description

Sloan, a leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems, is seeking a skilled Commodity Manager Electronics to join our team in Andover, MA. As a key member of our Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for the strategic development and management of the supply base for commodities used to build our electronic products and maintain facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Procure electronic commodities through approved sources, ensuring competitive pricing, on-time delivery, and adherence to purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage a Supply Base that builds long-term strategic relationships with key supply partners, providing Sloan with a competitive advantage.
  • Analyze and implement innovative supply opportunities and strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery.
  • Develop systems to define expectations and measure supplier performance on Quality, logistics, Tech, and Cost, continuously monitoring and evaluating Suppliers.
  • Develop Commodity with all relevant information on the market, products, and suppliers to support procurement and engineering.
  • Maintain market awareness of changes in prices, trends in supply/demand, and emerging technologies.
  • Establish new suppliers as needed for new development programs, working with Engineering and Quality to ensure adherence to Sloan requirements.
  • Interface with Production, Planning, QA, Finance, Sales, and Engineering to achieve smooth flow of goods and services to Sloan, maintaining committed schedules to customers.
  • Contract Management, including negotiating favorable contracts and Long Term Agreements, overseeing vendor responsibilities, and maintaining aggressive follow-up process to ensure quality and schedule compliance.
  • Financial/Quantitative Analysis, understanding and developing financial rationale for 'make vs. buy' decisions, establishing and maintaining cost reduction and process improvement programs.
  • Relationship Management, understanding vendor business and internal processes, co-developing initiatives to improve communication and transactions, and maintaining quarterly business reviews with key providers.
  • Strategic Thinking, understanding how interrelationships of processes, technologies, and people create results, creating mutually beneficial opportunities for company and vendor.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ Years buying electronic commodities, such as PCBs, PCBA's, and wire harnesses
  • Experience sourcing commodities for New Product Development
  • Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication in all interactions, consistent with an inclusive work environment
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • Flexibility and creativity in developing new methodology and ideas to achieve cost reduction and/or efficiencies in operation
  • General knowledge of manufacturing, basic knowledge of blueprints reading
  • Knowledge of MRP systems as applicable to planning and purchasing
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures and corporate national agreements
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of blanket orders and long-term agreements
  • Low-cost region sourcing experience
  • Value-Engineering experience
