Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Community Engagement Specialist to join our team at Community Health Systems, Inc.

The Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in supporting our health centers by executing the objectives of the Community Engagement Department, which aims to fulfill the mission of CHSI. This includes fostering community partnerships, organizing resource events, and providing education on navigating the healthcare system and understanding social determinants of health.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify resources to assist patients with needs beyond the services offered by CHSI.
  • Deliver timely updates to the direct supervisor and collaborate with the Clinic Administrator to execute the Community Engagement Department's strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness and education regarding healthcare navigation.
  • Regularly meet with the Clinic Administrator and relevant staff to discuss community concerns, feedback, service requirements, events, and the strategic plan of the Community Engagement Department.
  • Adhere to grant requirements for statistical tracking to facilitate the generation of monthly reports.
  • Act as a liaison between the Community Engagement Department, health center personnel, and the community, maintaining ongoing communication with social networks and community partners.
  • Assist the Community Engagement Supervisor in creating opportunities for community partnerships through outreach, cold calling, and educational presentations.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or five years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience is required.
  • Must be willing to travel locally 60% of the time and possess a valid driver's license along with proof of automobile insurance.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred for this role.
  • Must obtain a Certified Enrollment Counselor (CEC) certification within 60 days of employment.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism in ethics, communication, demeanor, and appearance.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and manage stress effectively.
