Your Role

The Brokerage Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing the brokerage operations for Smithfield Foods. This position encompasses the management of brokerage contracts, the maintenance of payment structures within the broker system, and the development of comprehensive reports for management. Additionally, the role focuses on enhancing communication with brokers, auditing payment processes, and collaborating with the sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate Open Broker Payment Reports for various sectors including Retail, Deli, and Foodservice.
  • Calculate, prepare, and supervise the processing of broker payments.
  • Review brokerage agreements to confirm the correct broker rates are recorded and that there are no overlaps in service among brokers.
  • Conduct monthly brokerage reconciliations to ensure accurate accruals in financial statements.
  • Perform historical analyses to verify the accuracy of broker payments and address any discrepancies.
  • Ensure that new brokerage agreements receive proper approval and are accurately set up in the system.
  • Provide training and guidance to sales teams and brokers regarding transactional account validation.
  • Resolve payment-related issues and escalate unresolved matters to the Broker Account Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the Broker Account Supervisor to manage voided checks.
  • Maintain the Broker Check Log for tracking purposes.
  • Request necessary documentation to establish or update customer information.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or consumer-packaged goods environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the order-to-cash process.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Oracle, SAP, and Blacksmith.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to complete tasks accurately and within deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates respect, approachability, and teamwork while fostering positive working relationships.
