The Commercial Loan Support Specialist role is integral to the operations of Amerant Bank, providing essential assistance to Relationship Managers, Portfolio Officers, and Managers in the administrative management of a diverse portfolio of commercial loans and accounts. This position aims to enhance the client experience by effectively addressing their needs related to services, deposits, and loans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Officers to facilitate loan processing and address general service inquiries, including: a) Resolving client inquiries related to accounts and loans; b) Preparing necessary account maintenance documentation; c) Processing loan payments and debit instructions; d) Managing the receipt and forwarding of loan documents for processing; e) Collecting fees for third-party services; f) Informing clients about renewal statuses and required financial documentation; g) Compiling reports and monitoring overdrafts.
- Support Relationship Managers and Portfolio Officers in the customer onboarding process, ensuring ongoing service items are addressed, such as: a) Setting up auto debit arrangements; b) Establishing real estate tax and insurance escrow accounts; c) Coordinating with the Treasury Management Department to implement banking treasury products for clients.
- Review and gather relevant loan and credit documentation both pre and post-closing, ensuring all required forms and legal searches are completed, while updating credit files and preparing checklists.
- Manage the opening and maintenance of depository accounts, ensuring all related forms and documents are processed accurately.
- Perform routine administrative tasks and manage internal and external communications, including responding to inquiries in a timely manner, preparing mailings, and coordinating schedules for Relationship Managers and Portfolio Officers.
- Upload and manage tracking exceptions such as site visit reports and financial reviews to ensure asset quality is maintained.
- Monitor overdrafts and past-due reports, which may involve direct communication with clients.
- Confirm wire transfers with clients as necessary, particularly in response to fraud alerts.
- Prepare minimum balance covenant certificates and the BSA/compliance package for internal review, organizing and reviewing all formation documents related to the customer’s organizational structure.
- Compile detailed organization charts and conduct adverse media checks as needed.
- Verify post-closing loan documentation to maintain quality control standards.
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals are obtained for submission to accounts payable, following up to confirm payments have been issued.
Minimum Education and Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required or in progress. Formal credit training is advantageous.
Minimum Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a Lending/Banking or Administrative Assistant role, with substantial experience in account opening and complex operations.
Essential Knowledge: Familiarity with banking regulations, loan documentation, and basic financial statement analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Teams, and MS PowerPoint is essential.
