Position Title: Safety Coordinator
Department: Safety
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Safety Director
Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator at Nash Plumbing and Mechanical is to foster a robust safety culture within the organization. This role involves managing the administrative aspects of safety and providing essential support across various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and implement safety training programs, including general safety orientations.
- Monitor employee training to ensure compliance across the organization.
- Maintain and manage safety documentation, including vehicle inspections and Safety Data Sheets.
- Assist in investigating incidents, preparing detailed reports, and identifying root causes and corrective measures.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and site evaluations.
- Track incidents and ensure the completion of corrective actions.
- Process and manage claims as necessary.
- Facilitate company-wide communication to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure that standard operating procedures are established, adhered to, and regularly updated.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and general contractors.
- Work towards achieving established safety performance indicators.
- Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and programs.
- Review and revise existing policies to identify and rectify deficiencies.
- Advise and guide employees on various safety-related matters.
- Assist with OSHA record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Support the management of contractor qualification platforms.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Desired Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in a Safety Coordinator or similar capacity.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and safety practices.
- Experience in report generation and policy writing for health and safety.
- Familiarity with data analysis and statistical reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with safety management information systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective time management and communication skills.
- BSc/BA in safety management or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications such as CHST or OHST are advantageous.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction training is required; OSHA 500 training is preferred.
