Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Quality Inspector will be responsible for evaluating the quality of all incoming and outgoing materials and products, as well as assessing production processes. This role is essential in advocating for quality within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, demonstrating reliability and commitment. A comprehensive understanding of quality standards and proficiency in using precision measuring instruments is crucial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct measurements of manufactured components to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers to define design tolerances.
  • Validate incoming materials by confirming specifications, performing visual and measurement tests, and rejecting materials that do not meet standards.
  • Perform final and in-process inspections of components and prototype parts utilizing tools such as FARO Arm, micrometers, calipers, hardness testers, scales, surface finish gauges, and other precision equipment as necessary.
  • Review technical drawings to ensure accurate documentation of specifications.
  • Maintain calibration of measuring instruments.
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and managing the return of unacceptable materials.
  • Monitor in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating necessary adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approve finished products by verifying specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and coordinating re-work as needed.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and entering data into the quality database.
  • Ensure measurement equipment is operational by adhering to operating instructions and calibration requirements, and requesting repairs when necessary.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications.
  • Contribute to the quality and organizational mission by completing related tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment utilizing measuring equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and understand product specifications and requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Capability to measure close tolerances accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with quality control methodologies such as Six Sigma.
  • Proficient in using measuring devices including meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other instruments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
