As an integral member of the Bus Service and Scheduling Office, you will engage with union representatives, stakeholders, and contracted personnel to implement forward-thinking solutions that elevate the customer experience.

Essential Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED combined with four (4) years of relevant experience in system development, database management, or operational analysis within the transportation sector is acceptable.

Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of experience in system development, database management, or operational analysis in transportation operations is essential, along with hands-on experience in logistics, schedule creation, or run cutting utilizing computerized scheduling systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred fields of study include Statistics or Mathematics. Familiarity with automated scheduling systems such as Hastus and Trapeze is advantageous.

Mission-Critical Role
This position is deemed essential to the mission of WMATA. Incumbents may be required to report to work or continue operations during authorized office closures or service interruptions due to severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergencies.

Role Summary
The Transit Scheduling Analyst is responsible for developing bus operation schedules through performance data analysis and scheduling tools. This role involves conducting operational efficiency assessments and coordinating schedule-building activities for both regular and special bus operations.

The incumbent will oversee all aspects of bus scheduling functions, ensuring a balance between schedule quality, vehicle allocations, driver assignments, and management objectives. Additionally, the role requires reviewing and analyzing historical and current operational data to enhance future scheduling.

Core Functions
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with Bus Transportation divisions to gather and share information aimed at improving bus schedules and operational efficiencies.
- Allocate bus assignments within the division to relevant offices.
- Assess the quality of implemented schedules through operational data analysis and provide constructive feedback for future improvements.
- Extract and analyze scheduling data from databases to monitor scheduling quality and consistency.
- Utilize software applications for schedule efficiency analysis and generate statistical and cost reports.
- Stay informed about industry best practices in scheduling as they relate to bus transit operations.
- Train scheduling staff on new features and capabilities and develop special operational schedules as needed.
