Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Imaging and Diagnostics department, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging and Diagnostic Procedures
    • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide educational materials.
    • Transport patients to and from clinical areas and verify patient identity according to policies and procedures.
    • Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure.
  • Lab Support and Administration
    • Assist technologists with filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts.
    • Match films to folders and deliver reports to patient units/physicians.
    • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
    • Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.
    • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Safety
    • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
    • Lock/tag out equipment if necessary.
  • Administrative and Clerical Duties
    • Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Constant standing and walking.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
    Requirements
    • Completion of a radiology certification program.
    • No experience required.
    Professional Certifications
    • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
    • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
