Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech Lab Technician to join our Imaging and Diagnostics team at SSM Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department. Your duties will include performing standard laboratory tasks, waived testing, and phlebotomy as needed. This is a full-time day shift position with a competitive pay range starting at $27.32/hour and opportunities for shift differentials.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Ensure patient understanding and provide educational material before procedures.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verifying patient identity according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams, positioning them for procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor patient activity during procedures and report any abnormalities.
  • Ensure high-quality images and documents are submitted to PACS, including lead markers and patient data/history.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, laboratory work areas, and storage areas.
  • Perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when the CT Technologist is not on site.
  • Collect, label, process, and preserve blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • May perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.


Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a radiology certification program.
  • No experience required.


Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.


Required Professional Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
