Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure prompt submission of all high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, images labeled correctly and patient data/history).
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and any other areas in the department.
  • Comply with regulatory agencies and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Education and Experience

Completion of a Sonography certification program is required. No experience is necessary, but a strong understanding of diagnostic imaging principles and procedures is essential.

Physical Requirements

Constant standing and walking are required, as well as frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication is also necessary.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) are required. Additional certifications may be necessary depending on the department and specialty.
