Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech Lab Technician to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Explaining Procedures: Clearly explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide appropriate educational material.
  • Patient Transportation: Transport patients to and from clinical areas and verify patient identity according to policies and procedures.
  • Assisting Technologists: Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure.
  • Following Radiation Safety: Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
  • Preparing Contrast Media: Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observing Patients: Observe patients during procedures and report any abnormal activity.
  • Ensuring Image Quality: Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
  • Maintaining Department Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, laboratory work areas, and storage areas.
  • Performing Limited CT Procedures: May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
  • Collecting and Processing Specimens: Collect, label, process, and preserve blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Entering and Executing Lab Orders: Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • Performing Administrative Duties: Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
Education and Experience
  • Education: Completion of a radiology certification program.
  • Experience: No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and Walking: Constant standing and walking.
  • Vision and Depth Perception: Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Hearing and Speech: Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent lifting/moving of patients, occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Radiographer License: Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • ARRT-R Radiography: ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
