About the Institution:

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), established in 1953, is a prominent multi-campus institution situated in the picturesque Upstate New York. The college provides over 80 degree and certificate programs across three primary schools: Business and Liberal Arts, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Qualifications for Employment:

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, English, Reading, or a related discipline;
  • Relevant coursework in Mathematics;
  • Two years of teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field;
  • Instructional experience with a diverse student population;
  • Ability to engage with individuals in a supportive and motivating manner;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

The Instructor will report to the Coordinator of Instructional Services and will be responsible for:

  • Conducting classes in academic subjects, particularly High School Equivalency and related Mathematics courses;
  • Assisting students in securing suitable employment or further educational opportunities;
  • Preparing necessary reports and documentation;
  • Participating in required meetings and assessment sessions;
  • Collaborating with the Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services regarding student progress;
  • Working with EOC staff and external agencies to meet program needs;
  • Supporting the personal and vocational development of students;
  • Providing informal crisis intervention as needed;
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and revision of the curriculum;
  • Facilitating orientation for new students;
  • Implementing attendance policies and procedures;
  • Collaborating as part of a cohesive staff team to integrate academic and site learning;
  • Engaging in special projects as required.
