Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), established in 1953, is a multi-campus institution located in scenic Upstate New York. HVCC provides over 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Qualifications for Employment
Education (Minimum Requirements):
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, English, Reading, or a related field;
- Relevant coursework in Mathematics;
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field;
- Instructional experience with a diverse student population;
- Ability to engage with individuals in an encouraging manner;
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Nature and Scope of Duties
The Instructor will report to the Coordinator of Instructional Services and will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting classes in academic subjects, particularly High School Equivalency and related Mathematics courses;
- Assisting students in securing suitable employment or further academic opportunities;
- Preparing necessary reports and documentation;
- Attending required meetings;
- Participating in assessment sessions as needed;
- Collaborating with the Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services to discuss student progress;
- Working with EOC staff and external agencies to meet program needs;
- Supporting the personal and vocational development of students;
- Providing informal crisis intervention;
- Formulating and revising the curriculum for the program;
- Assisting in orientation for new students;
- Implementing attendance policies as required;
- Collaborating as part of a cohesive staff team to integrate academic and site learning;
- Participating in special projects as necessary;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Compensation: This is a full-time position with a salary of $50,000.00.
