Job Description:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly skilled Public Health Policy Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Center for Public Health Policy and Practice, you will play a critical role in analyzing healthcare policies, assessing their impact on public health, and providing policy guidance and support to our programs.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Policy Analysis and Development: Develop and assist in the development of public health policy documents, including responses to federal rules. Conduct complex policy research and provide policy development support to our programs.
  2. Agency-Wide Work: Support our agency-wide work to improve the health of all Texans by providing high-level advice and counsel on improvement initiatives, discussion facilitation, and policy review.
  3. Evaluation and Technical Assistance: Advise and consult with management and executive leadership on developing and implementing effective techniques for evaluating agency and contractor activities.
  4. Cross-Agency Workgroups: Establish, facilitate, and set goals and objectives for collaborative cross-agency workgroups and develop work products.
  5. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including participating in disaster response and recovery efforts.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, administrative rules, program policies, and procedures relevant to our program areas.
  • Skills: Skill in the use of a computer and standard office software, analyzing problems and devising effective solutions, report writing and presenting findings, managing multiple simultaneous priorities and/or projects, policy development and project planning, public speaking.
  • Abilities: Ability to compile, review, and analyze data, prepare reports, maintain accuracy and attention to detail, communicate effectively both orally and in writing for a wide variety of audiences, gather information from a variety of sources and synthesize and translate detailed information into simpler terms.
