Job Overview:
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Medicaid and CHIP Services (MCS) Program Policy team is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill two Program Specialist VI positions that will report to the Manager of Program Policy in the Office of Policy.

These positions will play a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare policy in Texas, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage projects and initiatives related to Medicaid and CHIP services.

As a Policy Advisor, you will be responsible for analyzing Medicaid and Medicare laws and regulations, preparing high-quality written documents, and providing subject matter expertise to agency staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, provider organizations, and the general public.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term services and supports (LTSS), as well as excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement creative solutions to complex problems
• Analyze and interpret Medicaid and Medicare laws and regulations
• Prepare high-quality written documents, including policy briefs, research papers, and reports
• Provide subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement projects and initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• 5+ years of experience in healthcare policy or a related field
• Strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and LTSS
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
