Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Engineering professional to take on the role of Power Systems Engineer. This position is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and involves collaboration with our East Coast team.

The successful candidate will provide expert consultancy services in traction power, overhead catenary systems, and electrification. Responsibilities include assisting clients with established maintenance practices, inspection protocols, asset management enhancements, and the development of asset policies, as well as supporting the implementation of asset reliability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to clients in operational railway environments, including subways and light rail systems.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and identify opportunities for improvement in:
    • Maintenance, inspection, and renewal techniques for power systems;
    • Asset management processes and data management;
    • Innovative solutions aimed at enhancing asset reliability;
    • Work prioritization and management processes.
  • Assist clients in executing power systems engineering and maintenance improvement projects.
  • Conduct or lead technical investigations into system failures or malfunctions as needed.
  • Analyze asset failure data to identify potential failure modes, informing clients' asset policies and reliability improvement strategies.
  • Prepare professional reports, deliver presentations, and represent the NRC brand effectively.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with NRC operational procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional Engineer qualification in the US or equivalent UK Incorporated Engineer (IEng) (preferred).
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • Understanding of technical, safety, and performance standards in power systems engineering.
  • Proven experience in traction power systems, overhead catenary systems, and associated maintenance practices.
  • Experience in leveraging current innovations and technologies to enhance traction power systems.
  • Familiarity with asset data management, including Enterprise Asset Management systems (EAMS) (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
