About the Role
DEPCOM Power is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to lead the on-site maintenance and upkeep of various equipment and systems at commercial and utility-scale PV power plants. This includes inverters, transformers, trackers, communications, combiner boxes, electrical cables, substations, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all personnel at the site by enforcing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and adherence to safety procedures.
- Train field personnel to perform testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of equipment, including transformers, inverters, DAS and SCADA communication and control equipment, combiner boxes, modules, and racking systems.
- Monitor inverters, transformers, and tracker systems for faults and irregularities, creating corrective action tickets and performing repairs as needed.
- Perform daily and scheduled field performance checks using site SCADA and monitoring platforms to ensure equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
- Leverage technical expertise to efficiently complete scheduled and unplanned maintenance, ensuring efficient workflows and suggesting process improvements to management as needed.
Requirements
- Understanding of AC and DC electrical theory and application.
- Understanding of power systems or military equivalent experience.
- Understanding of engineering drawings: electrical, instrumentation & control.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with renewable systems and O&M, or mechanical equivalent.
- 1-3 years' experience with renewable systems and O&M.
- Greater than 3 years' experience with renewable systems and O&M.
- Experience with utility-scale invertors.
- Experience with tracking systems.
- Experience with PV systems.
- Experience with transformers.
- Experience with electrical substations.
- Knowledge of infrared imaging and diagnostics.
- Battery Energy Storage experience.
- Electric vehicle experience.
- Any OEM-specific certificate(s).
- NFPA, 70E, CPR/1st Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications.
Compensation and Benefits
DEPCOM Power offers a competitive hourly rate of $25-$50 per hour, with eligibility for variable pay.
