Production Supervisor

Job Purpose:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production process to ensure that products meet quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves managing the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the production process to meet quality and productivity targets.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Manage and direct personnel in all departments to ensure effective production operations.
- Implement technological improvements to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Direct and manage the activities of the production team to meet production and inventory requirements.
- Ensure that all departments are manned and trained appropriately.
- Manage the housekeeping of all departments.
- Direct the safety activities within the departments and ensure that health and safety of employees is a top priority.
Skill and Competencies Required:
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Business acumen and understanding of the production supervisor role.
- Functional knowledge of procedures and processes.
- Working knowledge of the production process.
- Leadership, innovation, flexibility, teamwork, and commitment to organizational values.
People Responsibilities:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for:
Directly managing 2 personnel.
Indirectly managing 20 personnel.
Freedom to Act:
The Production Supervisor will have the authority to make decisions that impact production operations and assist others in controlling and making decisions.
Complexity:
The role requires strong judgment and attention to detail to make sound decisions that impact departmental operations.
Impact on Business Results:
The Production Supervisor will impact production and quality within the final product.
Involvement in Business Planning/Budget:
The Production Supervisor will have input and shared responsibility in budget decisions and ensure proper and accurate reports are submitted to Finance on request.
Communication:
The Production Supervisor must have the ability to communicate and influence others within the operating department and other contributors and impacted outside of the department.
Physical Requirements:
The Production Supervisor must be able to maintain constant movement throughout the department and plant area to oversee production operations.
