Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Prepared Foods Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Prepared Foods department, ensuring a positive customer experience, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Delegate Tasks: Supervise and delegate tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and Develop Team Members: Work with the Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Assist with Training and Onboarding: Assist in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Department: Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
  • Ensure Smooth Operations: Open and close the department according to established procedures, ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader, ensuring that all issues are addressed promptly.
  • Drive Sales Growth: Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution, fostering a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and responding promptly to customer needs and questions.
Requirements
  • Extensive Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Strong demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Product Knowledge: Product knowledge and ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 12+ Months Retail Experience: 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
Working Conditions
  • Lifting and Standing: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Equipment and Tools: Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
