Job Summary

The IT Program Manager will play a critical role in planning, directing, and coordinating inter-related projects to ensure the goals and objectives of the program are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, funding parameters, and requirements.

This position will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing the inter-related projects to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals, working closely with IT Project Management Leadership and stakeholders across the organization, including Sr. and Executive Leadership.

The IT Program Manager will also be responsible for coordinating and managing program resources availability and allocation, as well as driving and leveraging Real Time Location Services (RTLS) initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate program information to stakeholders throughout the organization utilizing agreed upon channels and timelines.
  • Lead program-related meetings with authority and gain consensus on outcomes and goals.
  • Coach operational leaders on PMO standards for operational projects.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate related IT projects and programs to obtain identified strategic goals.
  • Ensure outcomes match agreed upon customer expectations and outcomes.
  • Formulate and define scope and objectives of coordinated projects.
  • Review inter-related projects to determine priority, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project.
  • Determine staffing requirements, and allotment of available department resources.
  • Facilitate governance process and support IT owners in formulating business cases for presentation to appropriate council(s).
  • Ensure adherence to standards and procedures for project initiation, planning, execution, control, monitoring, and closure defined by the Portfolio & Process Management Office for all projects within the program.
  • Create and update program documentation and reports.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of governance, work plan, and staffing for each phase of the project within a program.
  • Facilitate the onboarding and training of new project managers and contractors to Houston Methodist project management process and procedures.
  • Consolidate project expenditure and forecasts information within the program.
  • Validate budget, actuals, forecast, and variance cost with management.
  • Ensure all projects within the program have properly closed project expenditures.
  • Propose opportunities to improve the Portfolio & Process Management Office and lead improvement initiatives by planning, implementing, and ensuring adoption.
  • Stay up to date on knowledge of applicable industry standards, guidelines, and technology trends and seek opportunities to share expertise with more junior project management team members.
  • Proactively manage own professional development and complete Individual Development Plan (IDP).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline with an information technology focus.
  • Eight years of successful experience in implementing IT multi-project activities, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • PMP - Certified Project Management Professional (PMI)
  • PgMP - Program Management Professional
  • PROSCI - Certified in Prosci Change Management (PROSCI)
Working Conditions

This position will be based in Houston, Texas, and will require occasional travel within the Houston Metropolitan area and outside of Houston.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.

The candidate will also have strong knowledge of current technologies, with the ability to deliver projects using leading-edge technology.

Additionally, the candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively facilitate meetings and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

The candidate will also have a solid knowledge in Microsoft Office products and be able to operate under a dual reporting relationship (IT, customers).
