Reports To: Clinic Director

Compensation: Hourly + Performance Bonus

Role Summary

The Healthcare Support Specialist acts as a crucial link between patients and the clinic's healthcare providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient journey. This role involves coordinating daily clinic activities across various departments and providing support to Naturopathic Primary Care Physicians and the entire clinic team. Regular communication with patients is essential, as is the management of clinician schedules. For those with relevant experience, there may be opportunities to perform additional clinical tasks such as blood draws, injections, or IV therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates a seamless and consistent patient experience.
  • Ensures the protection of patient health information and confidentiality.
  • Assists healthcare providers with lab orders, prescriptions, and imaging processes.
  • Supports clinicians in documenting lab and imaging results in the EHR and follows up with patients to schedule necessary appointments.
  • Engages with patients regarding their treatment plans and follow-ups.
  • Collaborates with the clinic team to maintain consistent operational processes.
  • Assists the Clinic Director in executing clinic procedures effectively.
  • Works with the Medical Biller to relay insurance benefit information to new patients and updates patient profiles as needed.
  • Reviews clinic visits to ensure proper scheduling, preauthorization, and documentation.
  • Provides direct ancillary services to patients, such as blood draws and injections, under the supervision of Naturopathic physicians.
  • Trains and supports new team members in clinic protocols.
  • Maintains a reliable schedule to meet the needs of patients and practitioners.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical environment (experience in Holistic Healthcare is advantageous).
  • Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program; phlebotomy training certification or relevant experience preferred.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is required; experience with IV therapy is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Naturopathic medicine, Acupuncture, and other natural health practices.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Emotionally intelligent and composed, with the ability to remain calm in various situations.
