Position Overview

Salary: $20-$24/hr DOE

Reporting To: Clinic Director

Compensation: Hourly + Performance Bonus

Role Summary

The role of the Medical Assistant is pivotal in ensuring a smooth interaction between patients and the healthcare provider team. This position is responsible for coordinating daily clinic functions across various departments and supporting the Naturopathic Primary Care Physicians along with the entire clinic staff. Regular communication with patients is essential, as is the ability to manage and optimize clinician schedules. For those with the requisite experience, there may be opportunities to provide additional clinical services such as blood draws, injections, or IV therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates a seamless and consistent patient experience within the clinic.
  • Ensures the protection of patient health information and confidentiality.
  • Assists healthcare providers with the ordering and processing of laboratory tests, prescriptions, and imaging services.
  • Supports clinicians in scanning and uploading documentation of lab and imaging results into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, and follows up with patients to schedule necessary appointments.
  • Engages with patients regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
  • Collaborates with the clinic team to maintain consistent processes across all areas, including patient intake, checkout, follow-up, and outreach.
  • Assists the Clinic Director in ensuring that clinic procedures are executed effectively.
  • Works with the Medical Biller to communicate insurance benefit information to new patients and updates patient profiles as necessary.
  • Reviews all clinic visits to ensure proper scheduling, preauthorization, documentation, and charting.
  • Provides direct ancillary services to patients, such as blood draws and injections, under the supervision of Naturopathic physicians.
  • Trains and supports new team members in clinic procedures.
  • Maintains a consistent schedule to ensure continuity of care for patients and practitioners.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical environment (experience in Holistic Healthcare is advantageous).
  • Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program; phlebotomy training certification or relevant experience preferred.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is required; experience with IV therapy is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Naturopathic medicine, Acupuncture, and other traditional health modalities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask while maintaining professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
  • Emotionally intelligent and composed, with the ability to remain calm in various situations.
