POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the site Technical Manager, this role operates autonomously or collaboratively with engineers, VSLs, GPLs, TPLs, production, and maintenance teams to create touchless automated solutions that enhance extrusion, printing, and converting operations, including material handling and flow.

This may encompass the design, development, and transition of innovative processes, modifications to existing systems, cost-reduction initiatives, material handling enhancements, quality improvement projects, and project validation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Innovates methods for efficiently delivering finished products to clients.
  • Identifies and manages cost-reduction projects aimed at optimizing current and new operations through automated solutions.
  • Acts as the technical authority for touchless automation initiatives.
  • Oversees the technical aspects of daily production operations.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to address quality issues and identifies new or improved technologies for delivering defect-free products.
  • Keeps informed about emerging automation technologies in polymer extrusion, converting, and material handling.
  • Cultivates a professional network to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Implements automated manufacturing systems to enhance profitability.
  • Works alongside Global Engineering to deploy solutions within the facility and assists in transitioning projects from concept to full-scale operations.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
  • Comprehends established objectives related to technological specialties.
  • Possesses a broad understanding of scientific and engineering principles across various domains.

INNOVATIVE THINKING:
  • Develops creative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Investigates new technologies and opportunities for application in existing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • Requires a high level of scientific and engineering expertise.
  • Experience with diverse manufacturing processes such as extrusion, printing, laminating, slitting, and converting.
  • Solid understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Ability to manage projects and processes across multiple manufacturing areas and plants.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
  • Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive success.
  • Capable of drawing rational technical conclusions based on theoretical and experimental data.
  • Experienced in new equipment installations and project validation/commercialization processes.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred experience in plastics extrusion and converting processes.
  • Familiarity with automated material handling systems such as AGV and ASRS.
  • Knowledge of SAP, MES, and SQL.
  • Proficient in Six Sigma methodologies including DMAIC, FMEA, VSM, and SPC.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective in a matrix-managed organization.

EDUCATION:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, achieving results with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, innovation, and comfort in prioritizing tasks.
  • Strong presentation skills and business acumen.
  • Green Belt certification or higher is preferred.
