Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic After School Program Leader to join our team at Community Roots Foundation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with school-age children and a commitment to providing a safe and engaging environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise children to ensure a safe and harmonious environment during after-school playtimes.
  • Plan, prepare, and lead a variety of exciting and enriching projects based on students' interests.
  • Ensure children follow playground safety rules and expectations and apply school site discipline policies.
  • Help guide pupils in developing good habits of sportsmanship, respect, inclusion, healthy play, and community.
  • Implement positive behavior strategies and group management with respect for children and assist students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground.
  • Report observations and incidents to the Program Director.
  • Participate in cleaning and maintaining facilities and equipment.
  • Inspect the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards and take corrective action to prevent injuries.
  • Interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, teachers, school staff, community members, and co-workers.
  • Assist in maintaining student records of attendance, injuries, and behavior logs.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, and CA Community Care Licensing guidelines and requirements.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least 1-year experience working with school-aged children.
  • OR 12 College Units of Child Development, Education, Recreation, Physical Education, or Human Services preferred.
  • Must pass fingerprint clearance, TB test, pre-employment physical, and provide immunization record of measles and pertussis vaccines.
  • Must complete CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and Pest Management training upon hired.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to possess dexterity of hand and fingers; kneel, bend at the waist, sit on the floor, climb stairs, and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to perform assigned duties; lift light objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone;
  • Duties are normally performed in a school, classroom, playground and/or other outdoor environments
  • Duties may be performed in seasonal heat, sun, and cold or adverse weather, or on field trips away from school.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work Schedule

Part-time, 20-25 hours a week for the CCC After School Program.
