Youth Volleyball Program Coach

Position Overview
Role Summary
Under the general oversight of the Sports Program Director, this role is responsible for the planning, execution, and management of volleyball practices for assigned club teams. The instructor will also participate in coaching and facilitating various YMCA Club Sports events and competitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and conduct practice sessions for designated teams on scheduled days.
- Organize and lead monthly meetings for coaches and parents.
- Collaborate with the program director on marketing initiatives and enhance social media visibility.
- Oversee financial aspects of the program, including monitoring accounts receivable.
- Coordinate and manage all SVCA tournaments for the team.
- Support, motivate, and, when necessary, discipline team athletes, adhering to the YMCA and Aviators Volleyball Club's anti-bullying policy.
- Enforce team and facility rules to foster a cohesive environment among athletes and parents.
- Identify emergency situations and perform CPR/AED and first aid as required, following all safety protocols.
- Attend all SCVA tournaments along with team practices and events.
- Ensure presence at a minimum of two branch events annually.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and represent the YMCA positively and professionally.
- Assist in preparing facilities for all club team activities, including setting up and taking down volleyball nets, ensuring equipment is in good condition, and keeping accurate attendance records for practices.
- Manage program finances, including registration processing and payment handling, while implementing best accounting practices.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
The following qualifications are necessary for successful performance in this role. Please note that these qualifications may vary based on departmental size and location.
Education & Certifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within the first 60 days of employment.
- Completion of basic certification courses from recognized organizations, such as CDC Heads Up Concussion Training, USA Volleyball & SCVA Coaching Membership, USA Volleyball Background Check, Safesport Training, and IMPACT Coaching Certification.
Experience & Background:
- Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience in volleyball.
- At least 1 year of prior involvement with SCVA and USA Volleyball.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels and across diverse cultures.
- Capability to work collaboratively as part of project teams.
- Proficiency in explaining and demonstrating basic exercise physiology principles to participants.
- Knowledge of aerobic/anaerobic and strength conditioning is essential.
