Position Overview:

Department: Demand Planning

Reports to: Head of Product

We are looking for a highly skilled Director of Planning & Allocation to spearhead our planning and inventory initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will ensure optimal product availability, manage inventory proficiently, and implement innovative forecasting and allocation strategies that align with the company's financial objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and improve overall inventory management.

All roles at True Classic are global and omni-channel, overseeing designated areas of responsibility across all product categories, countries, and various sales & marketing channels. This position provides the opportunity to influence our operations on a global scale, ensuring a unified strategy that aligns with our overarching business goals and drives success across diverse markets and platforms.

Key Areas of Accountability

1. Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve business objectives.

2. Planning & Inventory Strategy: Develop seasonal plans at the department, class, and product levels to align with financial objectives and merchandising strategies across all channels. Optimize inventory by planning, purchasing, and managing assortment breadth and depth to meet sales targets while minimizing inventory risks.

3. Sales Forecasting: Conduct in-season forecasting to meet or exceed key performance indicators, including sales, margins, and inventory health metrics.

4. Inventory Management and Allocation: Oversee inventory management across multiple locations, optimizing stock levels and developing allocation strategies that balance sales goals with inventory costs. Collaborate with operations and channel owners to optimize inventory based on sales forecasts.

5. Promotional and Markdown Analysis: Lead the implementation of pricing, promotional, and markdown strategies to drive revenue and manage inventory effectively. Conduct monthly reviews to adjust inventory strategies in support of key programs.

6. Forecasting Tech Solutions and Innovation: Evaluate and integrate advanced technology and business intelligence tools to enhance forecasting accuracy and inventory management. Develop tools and dashboards to support workflow execution and drive key performance indicators.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Merchandising: Work together to align inventory with product launches and seasonal trends.
  • Production and Sourcing: Coordinate inventory with production schedules and sourcing strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Finance: Collaborate on inventory budgeting and financial planning to manage costs effectively.
  • Operations and Logistics: Ensure efficient inventory flow and fulfillment processes, aligning inventory levels with operational capabilities.
  • Business Intelligence: Utilize BI tools to analyze data and inform forecasting and allocation decisions.
  • Tech: Partner with IT to implement and refine technology solutions for forecasting and inventory management.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10-15 years of experience in merchandise planning and multi-location allocation within vertical specialty retail.
  • Proven experience in leadership roles with team management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated track record in managing large-scale businesses to achieve financial targets.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Suite.
  • Strong skills in tool building, visualizations, and innovation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in omni-channel and e-commerce direct business models.
  • Advanced skills in retail math, including markup, margin planning, and inventory productivity measures.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically.

Soft Skills

  • Ability to influence and maintain productive cross-functional relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical with a focus on execution and process improvement.
  • Motivated by working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferences

  • MBA degree preferred.
  • Experience in the apparel industry.
  • Background in wholesale planning.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $150,000-$170,000
