Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Software Project Manager to work in our Computer Information Department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the Department Manager.

Use specific knowledge about one or more areas of information systems to research, plan, and communicate through project teams. Contribute to the design, implementation and modification of software and big data that span across functional organizations; establishes project scope, priorities, budget, deadlines and deliverables schedules; prepares project execution plan and identifies appropriate technical and business resources needed; provide technical guidance to the project team; tracks and executes project plans from start to completion; modify schedules or plans and communicates impact to relevant partners; ensure projects are completed, within budget and meet technical requirements of the assignment; coordinates with software quality assurance (SQA) to ensure the development of quality assurance test plans and the execution of quality assurance testing; facilitate discussions and builds agreement among various project team members; recommend changes for improvement of the information systems process and to alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication.

Responsibilities Include:

Lead/manage software and big data from conception through implementation and closeout by using project management skills, and standard methodologies.

Create project schedules, budgets, and create important project documentation such as Work Breakdown Structures, Project Plans, and Risk Registers

Develop annual work planning for assigned programs.

Elicit, gather, oversee, and document business and technical requirements.

Increase and improve processes, methods, and best practices while ensuring quality project delivery.

Ensure that the scope of work to be performed is clear, concise, and executable by working with the customer and the primary owner to establish firm project/task requirements.

Resolve conflicts with customer requirements, technical activities and project team member performance.

Develop compelling strategies to support specific projects and the overall strategic goals of assigned directorate and department.

Lead within diverse, diverse teams on IT system projects to support mission strategy and INL business development.

Fill multiple project roles (e.g., Business Analyst, Customer Relationship Manager, Project Controls, Scheduler) Lead projects in multiple methodologies (Agile, waterfall) Understand what the end goal of the project is by using multiple business analysis methods.

Be a primary contact with customers and partners throughout the lifecycle of the project from conceptual initiation through closeout.

Collaborate with several audiences including senior & executive level management, employees, and specialists.

Communicate project status, risks, mitigation plans, and other important information to main project personnel, partners, and sponsors.

May assist with the daily direction, mentoring, oversight, and peer reviews for junior staff members.

Effectively manage assigned staff, projects, including project staff, to ensure that cost-effective technical services are performed observing, sound engineering practices, good science, and all applicable orders and directives.

May be responsible for personal development of computer system engineers to ensure correct roles and responsibilities for their various assignments.
