The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a nurse who has gained expertise in a specific specialty area of patient care services through clinical experience, study, and supervised practice at the masters or doctoral level. The APN has the responsibility for patient assessment and management, ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions, and the day-to-day implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments, physical examinations, and collect clinical data
  • Order and interpret medical laboratory test results and diagnose medical conditions
  • Complete accurate patient coding, maintain detailed medical reports, and manage inventory of medical supplies
  • Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure smooth patient processing and treatment
  • Mentor new staff and/or physician assistant students

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current NP license, ACLS, and BLS certification
  • Proficient in computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage physical demands of the role

Physical Demands:

  • Standing, walking, lifting, and carrying frequently
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and maintain eye/hand/foot coordination constantly
  • Valid ATLS and BCLS certifications required upon hire
