POSITION OVERVIEW

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) employs a medical model to address diverse healthcare needs, primarily focusing on outpatient care. The APRN collaborates with various healthcare professionals and security personnel within a correctional setting, delivering essential medical services under the supervision of a licensed Physician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide care within a correctional environment.
  • Respond to and manage medical emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Assess inmate/patient health issues and prescribe treatments as directed by a physician.
  • Implement medical care following therapeutic protocols approved by a Physician.
  • Educate inmates/patients, healthcare staff, and correctional personnel.
  • Document all healthcare interactions thoroughly.
  • Comply with safety and security protocols and participate in emergency drills.
  • Manage tasks assigned to team members as necessary.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and appropriate infection control measures.
  • Attend required training sessions and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with current certification/licensure as an APRN in the state of practice.
  • Must meet annual licensure and credentialing standards for mid-level provider credentials.
  • Maintain an active CPR certification.
