POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) employs a medical model to address diverse healthcare needs, primarily focusing on outpatient care. The APRN collaborates with various healthcare professionals and security personnel within a correctional setting, delivering essential medical services under the supervision of a licensed Physician.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide care within a correctional environment.
- Respond to and manage medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Assess inmate/patient health issues and prescribe treatments as directed by a physician.
- Implement medical care following therapeutic protocols approved by a Physician.
- Educate inmates/patients, healthcare staff, and correctional personnel.
- Document all healthcare interactions thoroughly.
- Comply with safety and security protocols and participate in emergency drills.
- Manage tasks assigned to team members as necessary.
- Follow Universal Precautions and appropriate infection control measures.
- Attend required training sessions and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with current certification/licensure as an APRN in the state of practice.
- Must meet annual licensure and credentialing standards for mid-level provider credentials.
- Maintain an active CPR certification.
