Residential Advocates support participants at either the emergency shelter or transitional housing program. Residential Advocates work collaboratively with other program staff to support residents in attaining goals identified in their individual service plans. Residential Advocates support the overall facilities management and contribute to creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents.
- Reports to : Residential Manager
- Status : Full time or part-time, non-exempt, includes overnight and weekend shifts
- Respond to a 24-hour Spanish/English hotline for survivors of domestic violence.
- Work in collaboration with other residential team members to ensure safe operations of shelter programs, including assisting with office administrative duties.
- Conduct intake into the shelter programs.
- Conduct residential programming when needed.
- Assist residents with various support services, including addressing basic needs, completing application forms, providing referrals to community services, and identifying employment opportunities as appropriate.
- Address resident concerns and provide crisis intervention.
- Document services in a timely manner.
- Prepare shelter units for potential residents.
- Support with preparing for health inspections and grant monitoring, as needed.
- Oversee assigned chores.
- Support volunteers assigned to the shelter programs.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Training or experience in the social service field, particularly residential services, highly desired.
- Prior experience in the domestic violence field preferred.
- Interest in addressing social justice issues affecting families and vulnerable groups, and a commitment to the movement to end intimate partner violence.
- Willingness to work with a diverse client population, including individuals in crisis.
- Flexibility and adaptability to the changing needs of the work environment.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required per contract agreements and high percentage of Spanish-speakers in client population.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. required.
- Proof of current automobile insurance detailing coverage and list of covered drivers required.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required absent a valid, approved medical and/or religious exemption.
- Proof of negative tuberculosis test is required and may be obtained after hire.
- Live Scan criminal background check is required upon hire as a condition of employment.
- State mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence training is required and can be provided upon hire.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour | Benefits Package | Supportive Work Environment
