Job Summary

The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current full-time vacancy for an EL Student Liaison at Pacific Beach High School in San Luis Obispo, and to establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for this classification that may occur over the next six months.

The EL Student Liaison serves as a resource for students and parents receiving english learners services, to achieve and maintain standards of excellence in academic areas so that each student receives the greatest academic and personal benefit from the learning experience. The Liaison will focus on academic growth and achievement of the student; monitor attendance, grades, behavior, assist in parent education training modules, meetings, mentorships, workshops and make direct referrals to agencies. EL Student liaisons also support students through weekly meetings with students, communication with parents, teachers and counselors.

If this job appears to be for you, APPLY TODAY Qualified candidates will have at least one year of experience working with students in an instructional support or counseling services role. Must be eligible through either District testing or by credential certification to offer language services in designated language (Spanish). Additionally, either two years of college (48 semester units), or completion of an NCLB exam are required. The NCLB exam can be taken with the San Luis Coastal USD.

Requirements / Qualifications

To pass screening for Minimum Qualifications, candidates must possess the basic skills and experience outlined in the job description, and must submit the required documents (listed below). As mentioned above, if you have not completed two years (48 semester units) of college coursework, you must pass an NCLB exam (offered by the district). As part of your application, please upload either your college transcript or a notice that you would like to be scheduled to take the NCLB exam.

EXAM INFORMATION
A) Candidates must pass application screening for minimum qualifications. Passing applicants will be invited to take the written examination, scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
B) 40% - The written examination covering job related skills, knowledge, and abilities required of an Elementary School Secretary will account for 40% of candidates' final score. Candidates who pass the written exam with a minimum score of 70% may be invited to oral board interviews, which will be held the same afternoon as the exam.
C) 60% - An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training will account for 60% of candidates' final score. Oral board interviews are scheduled for the same afternoon as the exam, Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Candidates who pass the exam and oral board interviews will be added to an eligibility list, and the top three ranks will be invited to hiring interviews, date TBD.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
