SaaS GPS Product Owner

SUMMARY

Primary responsibilities include managing the New Car Inventory business, F&I, Fleet Management, Consumer, Mobility, growing market share in all areas, and generating incremental, profitable revenue. Will report to VP of Technology.

Additional responsibilities may include P&L responsibility for these businesses, defining, documenting, and executing short-term and long-term business plans for each, identifying and defining market requirements, translating those requirements into tangible products and services, and regularly gathering voice of the customer and incorporating that feedback into software development and innovation plans.

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES **include the following for each product/service:

  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of automotive aftermarket, GPS, Fleet and telematics industry
  • Define, document, communicate, and execute short-term and long-term growth strategies
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute growth opportunities
  • Ensure these businesses meet or exceed financial goals
  • Regularly measure and communicate progress to plan on growth strategies and financial performance
  • Optimize and maintain pricing to maximize revenue and profit margin dollars
  • Regularly identify and evaluate competitive pricing for pricing opportunities
  • Lead efforts to understand the competitive landscape and formulate strategies and tactics to differentiate and grow products and services
  • Lead related voice of the customer (VOC) efforts to clearly understand, document, and communicate customer needs and wants
  • Act as a key spokesperson and advocate for these businesses internally and externally
  • Employ marketing best practices such as customer segmentation, customer understanding, portfolio management, competitive positioning, marketing assessment, and pricing
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, Engineering, Management, and Stakeholders to execute strategic growth plans and day-to-day operations
  • Ensure each business has the resources needed to execute growth plans including personnel, facilities, product training, and communication of new product features.
  • Monitor, measure, and regularly communicate success in these areas in terms of revenue, profit, market share, and customer satisfaction
  • Estimated 5% travel annually
  • Monthly in-person meetings in Detroit
  • Other duties may be assigned as-needed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to define and create a Product Requirements Document (PRD) and work in a matrix organization is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of automotive dealerships, F&I, GPS, fleet management and vehicle inventory management desired.
  • Familiarity with SaaS applications and software preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, planning, and organization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team
  • Experience with software development teams & SCRUM preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required
  • 5+ years of product/services management experience required
  • Experience in the automotive industry is highly preferred
