Position Title: Human Resources Benefits Specialist

Position Type: Salary $43K - $49K / Non-Exempt

Position Hours: Full-time; Monday - Friday; 40 Hours per Week

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Length of Term/Employment: 220 days / At-will

Position Mission: The job of Benefits Specialist was established for the purpose of coordinating all aspects of employee benefits and benefit information; resolving insurance benefit, retirement, reporting and reconciliation problems; providing information to new and current employees, providers and administrators; researching providers for administrative reviews; ensuring employee proof of coverage and accurate billing. The Benefits Specialist will also track and maintain employee incident forms while collaborating with district insurance providers to ensure proper reporting.

Position Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 3-5 years of previous experience in a related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree, preferred
• Bilingual with English & Spanish
• Believes fully in the mission and vision of Jubilee Academies.

Job Duties:
• Assists personnel, beneficiaries and/or insurance providers for the purpose of verifying eligibility, conveying information and processing claims.
• Develops a wide variety of written materials (e.g. policies related to employee benefits, forms, procedures, brochures, pamphlets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
• Distributes documents (e.g. open enrollment packets, new/change forms, flyers, life insurance, retirement forms, and identification cards, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and proof of insurance coverage/s.
• Maintains a wide variety of benefit information (e.g. provider contracts, claim files, employee records, etc.) for the purpose of purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
• Monitors and makes necessary changes for the purpose of maintaining compliance with Federal and local regulations pertaining to employee benefits.
• Participates and chairs meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Processes a variety of information (e.g. health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits, eligibility, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and disseminating information to appropriate parties.
• Reconciles enrollment forms and billings to employee records (e.g. disability, retirement, health, life insurance, dental, vision, cafeteria plans, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate eligibility and payment information and complying with contract provisions.
• Researches discrepancies between employee, payroll, benefit provider/s, and government agencies for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and maximizing eligible payments.
• Resolves conflicts with benefit providers for the purpose of verifying eligibility, conveying information and processing claims.
• Supports assigned administrators (e.g. monitoring insurance pools, forecasting, preparing special reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and recommendations.
• Monitor and review periodic insurance claims and reports. Notify district insurance companies of pending claims; coordinate claims with appropriate insurance carriers.
• Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
