Job Summary:

The Salesforce Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration, configuration, and enhancement of the Salesforce platform to support the AACR's goals and objectives. This role involves managing user setup, ensuring data quality, and customizing Salesforce to meet specific business requirements. The manager leads Salesforce-related projects, collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, and coordinates with third-party vendors when necessary. They also provide training and support to users, troubleshoot issues, and develop user documentation to ensure proficiency across the organization.

Additionally, the Salesforce Platform Manager stays updated on Salesforce releases and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities for system improvements and implementing necessary enhancements. They design and maintain reports and dashboards to provide insights into key business metrics, helping business units make informed decisions. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of business processes to effectively manage and optimize the Salesforce platform.

Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the Salesforce Platform
  1. Serve as the Project Lead for Salesforce-related efforts and initiatives
  2. Work with the Business Analyst to and stakeholders to gather requirements for enhancements and new functionality requests, and obtain stakeholder feedback
  3. Develop and prioritize platform features based on business needs
  4. Establish a delivery roadmap aligning platform capabilities with business strategy
  5. Maintain and prioritize the backlog to ensure continuous value delivery
  6. Formulate a clear product vision addressing business and customer needs
  7. Handle dependencies, budget constraints, and shifting priorities
  8. Lead meetings to drive decisions and optimize sprint value.
  1. Manage the Salesforce Platform Team
  1. Oversee the day-to-day activities of the team
  2. Coordinate with the Technical Projects Manager to ensure the team is working on and completing task as appropriate based on current business needs and priorities
  3. Team consists of:
    1. Systems Administrator, who oversees Salesforce as well as related, ancillary systems
    2. Business Analyst, who works with AACR stakeholders to gather user requirements
  1. Liaise with the Customer Support Team
  1. Collaborate with the Customer Support Manager and the Support Analysts
  2. Work together to troubleshoot and resolve user issues promptly
  3. Identify potential system enhancements from reported user issues/complaints
  1. Liaise with the Technical Projects Manager
  1. Collaborate with the Technical Projects Manager to develop stories, tasks, prioritizations and other artifacts in Jira to support Salesforce project work
  2. Prioritize tasks and manage project timelines and deliverables in conjunction with the Technical Projects Manager
  1. Liaise with the Central Platform Manager
  1. Collaborate with the Central Platform Manager in managing integrations between Salesforce and other business systems/third-party partners
  2. Keep the Central Platform team informed of any changes to the Salesforce data model or picklist values so that downstream systems can be effectively managed
  1. Represent the Salesforce Platform in Governance Groups
  1. Serve on the Salesforce Steering Committee and lead meetings/related initiatives
  2. Liaise between the Executive Sponsors/Steering Leadership and the Business Process Owners on the Salesforce Steering Committee
  3. Represent the Salesforce Platform on the Data Governance Committee and relevant Subcommittees
  4. Coordinate with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Steering Committee as necessary
  5. Service on the AACR's Architecture Review Board representing the Salesforce platform and related business processes
  1. Manage Salesforce Vendors
  1. Coordinate with third-party vendors and consultants on Salesforce work as necessary
  2. Oversee the execution of contracts and ensure services are delivered as agreed
  1. Aid in Salesforce User Training and Support
  1. Assist in creating and oversee the development/updating of user documentation and training materials. This will involve working with the Business and Support analysts
  2. Develop system documentation and user training documentation/materials as needed
  1. Work toward Continuously Improve for AACR's Salesforce Platform
  1. Stay updated on Salesforce releases, features, and best practices
  2. Proactively identify opportunities for system improvements
  3. Implement enhancements and conduct regular system reviews and upgrades
  1. Deliver Salesforce Reporting and Analytics
  1. Assist and oversee the design and maintenance of Salesforce reports and dashboards
  2. Remain informed of key business metric within the Salesforce platform
  3. Ensure business units in Salesforce have the data and reporting tools needed for decision-making
  1. Maintain the Salesforce Platform's Compliance and Security

  3. Stay informed of security best-practices as they relate to the Salesforce platform in general, and the AACR's use of it in particular

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:
  1. At least three years of Business Analyst experience is REQUIRED
  2. At least two years of recent Salesforce Project Management experience is REQUIRED
  3. At least two years of recent experience in Product Ownership/Management is REQUIRED
  4. Salesforce certifications are preferred
  5. At least two years implementing application systems from the functional perspective is preferred
  6. At least two years of experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is preferred
Core Competencies:

Education Requirements:

The American Association for Cancer Research's (AACR's) primary mission is to prevent and ultimately cure cancer. As the first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to accelerating the conquest of cancer, employees at all levels of the AACR are uniquely positioned to contribute to directly impact that mission.

Our organization hosts more than 30 scientific conferences and educational workshops annually including the AACR Annual Meeting which has attracted more than 22,500 constituents involved in cancer research. With the challenges facing in-person meetings in 2020 and 2021, our IT team led the charge to pivot our technology to support virtual meetings and the 2020 Annual Meeting had more than 100,000 attendees learning and collaborating on the latest trends and findings in cancer research.

Group Profile:

The Enterprise Platform Services and Data Management Team oversees the software and processes that facilitate the connection and collaboration of the organization's more than 58,000 members at the forefront of cancer research.

We manage the enterprise Customer Relationship Management (eCRM) solution along with its related systems and customizations that support our Membership, Event Registration, and other business processes. In addition, we are standing up the organization's Master Data Management (MDM) solution, as well as its enterprise Data Warehouse (DW).

Our group is also responsible for the AACR IT Help Desk and is in the process of building out a more robust customer service offering, for internal and external constituents.
